I have a very old gas oven (they don’t make them anymore and haven’t for a long time) so when the food would burn on the top rack and not cook at the bottom rack, I wanted to know what the temperature difference was, and I was surprised so now I can cover certain foods near the top and leave others at the bottom uncovered and get the meal done at the same time.
It is also extremely good for letting me know what the temperature in my glass is of my wine or whiskey so I can get that right every time too.
