Great saw, compact, portable, plenty of power, and cuts cleanly.
Only caveat is that you can’t use this saw on larger stock (e.g. 90mm x 90mm). But for smaller stuff and for making precise cuts, it’s a superb bit of kit.
Some might not like Makita’s idea of using the saw blade’s shadow as a cutting guide, but I love it. I was never a fan of lasers that may -or may not- be set up correctly. I work out of direct sunlight wherever possible, so it totally works for me. It’s simple and reliable, and due to the thin kerf of the blade, it’s possible to be extremely accurate.
Another good point of the saw is the excellent dust extraction. I haven’t used the AWS system, but I have it hooked up to an older Makita shop vac (VC2012) and there’s next to no mess.
If you keep in mind its working limitations and use it appropriately, you can’t go wrong with this saw. It is, compact, portable, and a fantastic piece of kit.
