I am not normally a fan of cheap brands, they go for about 2 years then start giving you trouble!
But any way, this genset seems very well built. It starts 2nd pull runs nice. I wanted a 2nd inverter genset of this size for different places. The rubber fuel lines inside look good quality.
The voltage does not rise above 244 volt under high power tool start up ! which is good considering the mains voltage out here in summer reaches 248 volts at times ! the bonus
service kit looks good, that is about what goes on Honda motor here on the farm after about
15 years, air cleaner breaks up, new spark plug helps. I intend use this genset about 6 times a year, for that it looks a good choice.

I extensively researched generators before purchasing the MaxWatt 2000W. My needs were:-
1. Around 20kg so I could carry it up stairs with a full tank of fuel;
2. A longer warrantee than 1 yr, shows manufacturers confidence in their product;
3. A largish fuel tank so I don’t have to keep filling it up;
4. At least 2000W that would run my fridge, freezer and small electric items at the same time;
5. Price – I didn’t want to buy a problem, I was after a reliable well built product around $700 to $800.
Delivery was very quick. I called My Generator to ask a few questions before I fueled the genie. They recommended that I call the manufacturer which I did, they were super helpful.
Being an older female I struggled to start it and ended up flooding it. A male neighbour came over and got it going. We turned it off and I pull started it first pop. It easily ran my fridge, small chest freezer and some other small appliances – all plugged into a power board. I don’t know if the fridge entered its defrost cycle while it was hooked up to the genie, but it handled the load well.
It’s a month later and today I was due to run it again. I started it myself on the 3rd pull, super easy.
The guys at My Generator were extremely helpful and confirmed that the size would be suitable for what I intended to run on it. I liked the history of the brand being a family business and major supplier of generators in South Africa, then when they moved to Australia they brought their MaxWatt generators with them. My Generator guys advised that MaxWatt has proven to be an extremely reliable brand, with little to no problems with their product. The 2 Year Warrantee was a major selling point, together with the price.
When doing my research on alternate brands with only a 1 Yr warrantee – I spoke to overseas call centres who didn’t understand my questions and didn’t know much about their product at all and I had absolutely no confidence in their mass produced cheap and nasty products and in their after sales service. Why do I say cheap and nasty, because the reviews I read would make you run a mile, which I did.
I purchased from an Australian Company – My Generator. I know I will have good after sales service. I have spoken to the manufacturers – the South African family here in Australia – who were extremely helpful.
I’m very happy with my MaxWatt genie, I think we’ll end up being best mates as I’ll be relying on it when we have black-outs or if I need to go bush.
