A broken 6mt tape meant I was in the market for a replacement. I checked out three similar tapes all of which required a manual locking movement to secure the extended tape and ranged in price from $14 – $40. Finally I picked up this one. Another couple of meters will be handy. I’m not using a rule more than occasionally so I was not looking for tradesman quality. What I really liked about it was the superb, automatic lever locking system. It feels controllable, firm and positive. The magnet is simply a bonus for me as I work mainly in wood but you never know! The other “likeable” features are the triple riviting of the end stop, an ability to hold its own weight for 1.9mt and the return system is semi-controllable and doesn’t have to crash back at you when you least expect it. The anti-glare mustard coloured finish to the tape is a nice touch too. I can’t be objective on the “quality” rating (see above). If it lasts me 10 years of moderate usage I’ll be very happy to give it 5 stars at that point. I have the feeling the orange plastic case may crack/break easily if dropped on concrete but for the price, I’m not complaining.
